WOYWW - arty exbeariments

Hello there, it's Horace here with you for the first WOYWWof the year. Click on the link to find out all about Julia's fabulous desk nosefest!

Isn't the year flying by already? I've been absorbed in my Lifebook class but managed to sneak in a page in my large Dylusions journal too. I wanted to try out all my lovely Christmas goodies, which included a rather impressive 4 sets of Dylusions stamps. Lucky lucky me. I also received a mini watercolour Moleskine journal, which I was eager to try out. I did my usual of creating two pages at once. Here's the desk post play. I like to leave the journals open for a day or two after so I can see what I've achieved.

This is the mini Moleskine book

And here's a close up of the large journal page. It always irritates me, if, when meeting people for the first time, their first question is 'what do you do?' As if your job defines you. As I don't work I'm constantly stuck for an answer. My dear friend bought me the Dylusions quotes stamps and in the set I found the perfect answer to that question ' Mostly I just sit around all day being fabulous'. I just had to use it on this page.

I also received a couple of new stencils, I was a very spoilt bear. Just look at the depth created with a bit of texture paste scraped through the stencils

I'm hoping my inspiration lasts the whole year. At the moment I want to create constantly, if only my energy matched my enthusiasm.

I'm going for a desk hop. See you soon.

With love from the Horace.

  4. Hi Horace, Happy New Year!

When asked "What do you do?" My answer is "I am a paper artist." Since MOST people (usually the ones who ask the question) don't quite understand, they just say "Oh"........LOL I don't add that I like to also play games with other people's minds..................grin. Actually, I "do" what ever I want to do, which is be a paper artist!

Great starts on your journals, love the inkiness of them both, and yes I will be using your fabulous answer from here out.

Thanks for visiting Betsy and me this week, feels good to be back to WOYWW

  5. I think that is a WONDERFUL response. I'm a bit like Krisha, but I say I'm a mixed media artist. They get that blank look on their face and their eyes glaze over even more when I tell them I'm also a Human Factors Engineer. I like YOUR answer, much much better.

You have started some lovely journal pages. I know you'll keep it up in the new year, because of all that enthusiasm you have.

Happy belated New Year and happy WOYWW from # 2. And thanks, too for the earlier visit.

  9. Oh Horace! I too hate the 'what do you do' question. I always want to ask "for what?" What do I do when I'm on fire? stop, drop, and roll! What do I do to earn a paycheck? Work! What do I do when I'm not being asked stupid questions by you? Lots of fun things! I hate it when people ask where I work because they assume what you do by the name of where you work. I work at a school so they immediately ask me what I teach. No, I don't teach, I surf Horace's blog shall be my new answer!

Great journal pages. I'm envious of your energy and enthusiasm. I lack both currently so I'll just sit back and enjoy everyone else and their creativity. You just continue being fabulous!

  11. Ooohhh, that phrase is just the right answer to that question! I might go use it myself (in Dutch, as 'they' ask me in Dutch of course...) I, too, mostly create spreads (double pages) in my journals. I love yours! Happy New Year, happy woyww and a hug from Holland, Marit #40

  12. LOL! Sitting around and being fabulous - what a perfect aspiration for 2015! I get asked that a lot too and never really know what to say. Now I do...

    Happy First WOYWW of 2015!

  17. I'm retired now but i used to hate it when people asked what i do. I was a palliative care nurse and worked with dying people. A sure conversation stopper if ever there was one! People would go: Oh, I don't know how you can do that. How awful.
I've just done a scrapbook page about St Peters Hospice on my blog I called it WELL DONE! I was a fabulous place to work. But now I'm blissfully retired and can play with craft goodies! How good is that!
    Have a great week,
