'Poe'dgy challenges you.

this post is a lick and sticky and shall remain so until the end of September, please scroll down for more recent posts.
Hallo there, it's your favourite bear, Poedgy here, I've renamed myself for this month's challenge, chosen by yours truly. I love Edgar Allan Poe, I like to read his stories to Horace before bed and see him shiver under his furry blankets with fright all night long!

Bearing (ha, excuse the delibearate pun) that in mind I came up with the following poe(dgy) quotes for you to use. Any way you see fit, journal, ATC, postcard, art scene, card, anything, as long as it either includes one of the quotes below

I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity.

If you wish to forget anything on the spot, make a note that this thing is to be remembered

A lunatic may be "soothed,"... for a time, but in the end, he is very apt to become obstreperous.

"I am above the weakness of seeking to establish a sequence of cause and effect.

All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.

I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat.

Science has not yet taught us if madness is or is not the sublimity of the intelligence.

The painter stood entranced before the work which he had wrought.

What you mistake for madness is but over-acuteness of the sense.

Why will you say that I am mad?

It is the beating of his hideous heart.

Or, if none of those suit your creation, choose your own quote from Poe and add it to your art.

Here's my inspawration piece

I became insane, with long, horrible periods of sanity. That just about sums up life in the bears' bungalow!

I used Dylusions for everything, Horace's Dylusions journal, Dylusions sprays, Dylusions mask and of course, mixed and matched Dylusions stamps. I forgot how much I love my Dylusions stash. Dyan Reaveley would be proud of the bears!

We'd love for you to join in with us this month, leave a comment when you link your creation, so we know to come and visit you, and if you can, visit the other entrants' blogs to see their take on the challenge, it's always fun to see the differing interpretations. We'll run until the end of September. Have fun.

With love from the bears

  1. Poor Horace having you read the Poe stories at bedtime. I am scared just reading the few quotes in this post.

Love your journal page though it doesn't look too scary--well I had one eye closed when I looked at it.

Maybe I can find a nice quote by Edgar :)

    Thanks for the challenge

    Love Chrissie xx

  3. Love the colours in your background, Poedgy - I don't like reading horror stories at the best of times, and especially not before bed!

  5. Fabulous, fabulous pages! And what a wealth of brilliant quotes to choose from. Having signally failed on the Austen challenge (even with double time), I'm determined to play this time...

  13. Awesome artwork - I really love the colours you have used Podgy and the quirky imagery... I might be going mad (quite appropriate) but are you still accepting digital entries as I can't see it mentioned this time - maybe I need some carrots to improve my eyesight LOL...Gill x

  16. I'm a bit late this month - and I haven't put in half the work that you did. As always, I love how you get so much into your backgrounds. And yet, they never detract from the subject. Clever bears!
