WOYWW? - Our Outdoor Studio

Hello there, it's Horace here with you today to show you what's on our workspace today, Why? Well because we' re joining in with the weekly fun over at Stamping Ground.
Phew, it's scorching weather here in Engbearland isn't it? I've made the most of it by moving the desk doings to the garden, it's far too nice to be holed up inside, even for creative pawposes. Here I am, working on a couple of pieces of mail art for a swap we joined at UKS. Why don't you go and take a look? It's a no pressure, as and when kind of swap and it's great fun.

One of our swappees said she doesn't like cutesy or girly, so I'm making the above for her. The image was taken from a bargain book buy at The Works. The background was made from Gelli plate prints, with glass bead gel scraped through a mask for the stars. It has a wonderful texture to it.
The postcard itself was quite flimsy, so I had to eat an abundance of ice creams to facilitate a more sturdy backing. The things we crafters do for our art!!!

Ah, that's better, the reinforced backing means we trust it to go through the mail relatively unscathed.

Now, I think it's time to catch a few rays before finishing the second postcard.

Ttfn,
With love from the bears

  1. What a glorious place for your desk this week. Your mail art is just gorgeous and I bet you really suffered while eating those yummy mars ice creams (whimper). Enjoy your sun bathing.
    Have a great week.

  2. Ah, those sacrifyces we have to bring for art! I know too well about them ;)

If you want to bleach your fur, you can rub in some lemon juice first before sunbathing (just a hint from a natural blonde *giggle).

Btw: I no longer take coffee mugs (with coffee or tea in them) to my crafting table as I often happen to dump my brushes in it, mistaking them for the jar with the water... *rollingeyes

    Have a wonderful sunny WW!

    Hugs,

  5. Oh how you bears suffer for your art - it must be unbearable eating all those Mars ice-creams! I love your punk girl, though, so all that sacrifice must have been worth it! The Works is a great place for artsy bargains, I find. You look so cool in your shades too! Have a great woyww! Julie Ann xx #45

  13. That has to be the best creation yet and it wasn't cute or girly, love it. Now you be careful in that sun it could singe the fur and that would hurt heaps, no showing off now.

  15. I think your bears are as popular (maybe even more so) as my rocking horses. Of course, mine don't show desks, lounge around in the sun, or paint postcards. Of course, they might be tempted to eat a bit of ice cream (grin). Happy WOYWW from # 2 and thanks for the visit.

  21. So great that you can enjoy and create outdoors at the sametime. It looks like a fabulous spot to pass the day. I love the fabulous postcard art you have created this week I love using my Gelli Prints and just wanted to mention that you may want to enter this over at Unruly Paper Arts - RAQ, this month as their challenges are Postcard Themed. 23. Thank you for stopping by my blog.
How fun to craft outside...I have a 10 x 12 foot screend and curtained gazebo on the patio at the RV. Helps keep the wasps away when we are eating el fresco...and comes in handy for crafting when it is 32 degrees plus...like this week!

I shall be lying on a loudge chair at the pool tomorrow, resting up from my crafty day at the clubhouse...lol

  24. Thanks for dropping by and apologies for the late visit.

The journals...ah yes...well, you won't get much looking through them at the moment because I haven't started using them yet. I bought them for my stash while I was at colllege. They are Pink Pig journals so I wasn't turning them down for THAT price that's for sure!

Glad to see you are enjoying the scorching weather, hasn't been quite so warm in Scotland this week so at least it's a little bearable ! (sorry) lol

    Take care

    Happy belated WOYWW

  25. Every time I try to craft outside the breeze takes my bits away - always fishing cut out letters or little snippets of text from thee bushes. If they blow into the fields I just have to go print another one.... :)

    Happy (late) WOYWW!

  28. Oh! Good idea, I had been worried about you, being furry in all this heat! It's too hot for me and all I have to worry about is the occasional whisker on my chin(soon sorted with a pair of tweezers- aaggh! Enough of this aging talk!). Glad your project meant you got to eat icecream! Mail art looking great! Chris#120

  31. Well done, Horace, managing to craft in all this dreadful heat. Winston has been suffering so much that yesterday he took all his clothes off! Edwina is a much more modest bear and seemed to maintain her cool, and kept her pink dress ON!!

I haven't been around much lately because I haven't had an ARTHaven, let alone a desk, to show off because everything's packed up ready for our move. However, my new room is now nearly finished and I've got a lovely work desk to show, even if it hasn't got anything on it!

Happy belated WOYWW to all the bears from Shoshi #116 and Winston and Edwina.

  32. Lol! Horace can come and play any time. He looks very accomplished with a paintbrush. Winston likes nothing better than to get all mucky and will join in the fun!! It's all very exciting having such a lovely new room and I can't wait to get it filled and in action!
