Making a Splash

Well hello there again, it's Podgy at your crafty service, here today to create a page for a sketch challenge over at Creative Craft World.

Here is the original sketch, well, kind of - as you can see I decided to flip it to better suit my photos, if you'd like to see it in its original form then feel free to stand on your head! :)

On with the crafting. One of our favourite activities is to go to Banham zoo, it's just down the road from the bear bungalow, and has the added advantage of being less undulating than our previous zoo haunt in Colchester. Of course, once at the zoo it would be rude not to indulge in a photo or two, my favourite animal is the eagle, despite having a fear of birds. He's tethered so can't come and rip my furry head off with his scary beak!

The eagle has a wonderful colouring to his beak and talons, and I really wanted to use this colour in my page. I thought that to really make the yellow stand out, I needed black card for my background.

I took a rather long paint brush to avoid splashy stains on my wonderful onesie, placed my cardstock in a pizza paint booth (to avoid splashy stains on the kitchen tiles behind), loaded up my paintbrush, and patted it rather aggressively with my paw, to create lots of yellow splattery splodges.

Ooh, I feel all creative now. Have you guessed what it is yet?!!

After pausing for a bowl of wonderfully wobbly jelly....

I perused the mask drawer, and found this, how perfect for my splattered page.

I added some co ordinating papers, to comply with some of the elements of the sketch, framed my photos in yellow card and cut a title from the Life's a Beach Cricut cartridge. Here he is. Banham zoo's resident eagle taking a bath and shaking off the excess water.

I guess you'd like a close up of the finished page? This was such fun to make, thank you to Creative Craft World for the fab ins'paw'ration.

With love from the bears.
